Responsibility

Sustainability

The most sustainable sock is the one you don't have to replace.

RWS Certified wool

Every Summitwool sock starts with wool from farms certified to the Responsible Wool Standard, administered by the non-profit Textile Exchange. That means verified animal welfare with no mulesing, responsible land management, and traceability from farm to fibre.

More on the fibre itself on our Why Merino page.

A fibre that returns to the earth

Merino is a renewable, biodegradable protein fibre — it breaks down in soil in a matter of months. Synthetic socks shed microplastics for the entire time they exist, and can take centuries to break down.

Built to last, washed less

Merino resists odour naturally, so a pair can be worn several days between washes. Fewer washes means less water, less energy and less fibre loss. Shape memory and reinforced high-wear zones mean fewer replacements.

Packaging

Socks ship in recyclable paper packaging with paper tape and no plastic sleeves. Orders go out in right-sized mailers to avoid shipping air.

Small range, on purpose

Three socks. One standard. We keep the range tight and produce in measured runs instead of releasing seasonal colourways that end up discounted or landfilled.

What we're still working on

Lower-impact dyeing, a take-back program for worn-out pairs, and carbon-neutral domestic shipping. We'd rather publish the gaps than overstate the progress. Ideas welcome at info@summitwool.com.
